Takiego wprowadzenia słuchasz raz i musisz zapamiętać godziny i miejsca.

Jak pracować z tym nagraniem

  1. Posłuchaj raz, bez tekstu. Nie zatrzymuj. Złap tylko, kto mówi, gdzie są i o co chodzi. Potem odpowiedz na pytania z kroku 1.
  2. Posłuchaj jeszcze raz albo dwa, pod szczegóły. Najpierw przeczytaj pytania z kroku 2, potem słuchaj. Możesz cofać o jedno zdanie.
  3. Dopiero teraz transkrypcja. Sprawdź, czego nie złapałeś. Podkreślone zwroty mają podpowiedź po kliknięciu.
  4. Shadowing. Mów razem z nagraniem albo powtarzaj po każdym zdaniu. Tu ucho uczy się najwięcej.
  5. Na koniec posłuchaj całości jeszcze raz, bez tekstu. Usłyszysz, ile więcej rozumiesz niż za pierwszym razem.

Krok 1: posłuchaj raz i złap sens

Słuchaj bez zatrzymywania i bez tekstu. Nie musisz rozumieć każdego słowa, wystarczy ogólny obraz.

Who is speaking?

  • A taxi driver
  • A museum guard
  • A tour guide

Leo prowadzi pieszą wycieczkę i mówi do całej grupy.

What is the main purpose of the talk?

  • To explain the plan and the rules before the tour
  • To sell tickets for a bus tour
  • To tell the history of San Francisco

Leo mówi o trasie, przystankach, lunchu, miejscu spotkania i bezpieczeństwie, zanim grupa ruszy.

How does Leo sound?

  • Nervous and unsure
  • Friendly and a little funny
  • Strict and serious

Żartuje („Nobody’s racing.”, „even the strange ones”) i mówi swobodnie, ale konkretnie.

Krok 2: posłuchaj pod szczegóły

Przeczytaj pytania, zanim włączysz nagranie. Słuchaj jeszcze raz albo dwa i szukaj konkretów: liczb, dni, godzin, decyzji.

Szczegóły: wybierz odpowiedź

How long does the tour take?

  • About two hours
  • About three hours
  • About four hours

Leo mówi: „We’ll be walking for about three hours”.

What is the first stop?

  • Chinatown
  • North Beach
  • Coit Tower

How long is the lunch break?

  • Thirty minutes
  • One hour
  • Forty-five minutes

Where does the group meet after lunch?

  • At the bottom of Coit Tower
  • At the fountain in Washington Square Park
  • At Portsmouth Square

Why does Leo say "Fingers crossed the fog stays away"?

  • Fog makes the streets dangerous
  • The tour is canceled in bad weather
  • Fog could hide the view from Coit Tower

Chwilę wcześniej mówi o widoku na Golden Gate Bridge i Alcatraz „on a clear day”, czyli przy dobrej pogodzie.

Why does Leo talk about the restroom?

  • People ask him about it on almost every tour
  • The restroom in the park is closed
  • He needs a break before the tour

Mówi: „there’s one question someone always asks me”, więc odpowiada, zanim ktoś zapyta.

Szczegóły: wpisz brakujące słowo

Wpisz słowo, które pada w nagraniu. Jeśli nie pamiętasz, posłuchaj jeszcze raz, zanim zajrzysz do transkrypcji.

Leo Okay, everybody, can you hear me in the back? Great. Good morning, and welcome to the Hidden San Francisco walking tour.

Leo My name’s Leo, and I’ve been doing this tour for about six years now, so you’re in good hands.

Leo Before we start, let me give you a quick idea of the plan. We’ll be walking for about three hours, with a few breaks along the way.

Leo The whole route is a little under three miles, but this is San Francisco, so some of those miles go straight uphill. Take your time. Nobody’s racing.

Leo Our first stop is Chinatown, just two blocks from here. It’s one of the oldest Chinatowns in North America, and we’ll spend about forty minutes there.

Leo Then we’ll head up to North Beach, the old Italian neighborhood, where you’ll see some of the best murals in the city.

Leo Around twelve thirty, we’ll stop for lunch in North Beach. You’ll have forty-five minutes on your own.

Leo There are lots of great places nearby, and I’ll point out a couple of my favorites. If you like pizza, you’re in for a treat.

Leo After lunch, we’ll meet at the fountain in Washington Square Park at one fifteen. Please be on time, because from there we climb up to Coit Tower.

Leo Yes, it’s a steep climb, but the view from the top is totally worth it. On a clear day, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.

Leo Fingers crossed the fog stays away.

Leo Now, a few safety tips. Please stay on the sidewalk and only cross at the lights, even if the locals don’t. The streets are steep, and cars come faster than you’d think.

Leo Keep your phone and wallet out of sight when it gets crowded. And drink plenty of water. It doesn’t feel hot, but walking uphill is hard work.

Leo If you get separated from the group, don’t panic. Just call or text the number on your ticket, and I’ll come and find you.

Leo Oh, and there’s one question someone always asks me, usually right after a big coffee. Where’s the nearest restroom?

Leo Good news. There’s a public restroom at Portsmouth Square, in Chinatown, so you won’t have to wait long.

Leo Okay, I think that’s everything. If you have questions along the way, just ask. I love questions, even the strange ones.

Leo Alright, then. Let’s go. Follow me!

Krok 4: shadowing

Zwroty z nagrania

  • you’re in good hands (jesteś w dobrych rękach)
  • Take your time (nie spiesz się)
  • you’re in for a treat (czeka Cię coś pysznego)
  • totally worth it (zdecydowanie się opłaca)
  • Fingers crossed (trzymajmy kciuki)
  • out of sight (schowane)
  • get separated from (odłączysz się od)
