Tak działają m.in. open, close, start, stop, break, change i move.

  • The door opened. (Drzwi się otworzyły.)
  • The window broke during the storm. (Okno się rozbiło w czasie burzy.)
  • The weather changed in the afternoon. (Po południu pogoda się zmieniła.)

Sklep się zamyka, spotkanie się zaczęło

Godziny otwarcia i plany dnia to ten sam schemat.

  • The shop closes at 8. (Sklep zamyka się o ósmej.)
  • The meeting started at ten. (Spotkanie zaczęło się o dziesiątej.)
  • What time does the movie end? (O której kończy się film?)

Ceny poszły w górę: go up, rise, drop

Kiedy coś rośnie albo spada, używasz go up, rise, go down albo drop. Raise potrzebuje dopełnienia (ktoś podnosi ceny), więc „ceny się podniosły” to prices went up albo prices rose.

  • The price went up again. (Cena znowu poszła w górę.)
  • Sales dropped in March.

Get pokazuje zmianę: byłeś w piżamie, a teraz jesteś ubrany.

  • I need to get dressed. (Muszę się ubrać.)
  • We got lost in the old town. (Zgubiliśmy się na starym mieście.)
  • They got married last year. (Pobrali się w zeszłym roku.)

Kiedy jednak myself i yourself

Prawdziwie zwrotnych czasowników jest niewiele. Najczęściej usłyszysz hurt yourself, cut yourself, enjoy yourself i introduce yourself.

  • Did you hurt yourself? (Zrobiłeś sobie krzywdę?)
  • Let me introduce myself. (Pozwól, że się przedstawię.)
